Ebadat Advises Channel Football Group in Acquisition of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club
HOUSTON — May 5, 2026 — Ebadat is proud to announce the closing of the acquisition of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, a historic English football club and founding member of the Premier League, by Arise Capital Partners, a U.S.-based investment consortium. Ebadat advised Channel Football Group, a founding sponsors of the Arise Capital Partners on the formation and capitalization of its investment vehicle and the transaction. The firm's client accounted for approximately half of the equity capital invested in the transaction. The acquisition closed on May 2, 2026.
Founded in 1867, Sheffield Wednesday is one of the oldest professional football clubs in the world and a founding member of the Premier League in 1992. The club, nicknamed The Owls, has won four English league titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, and one FA Community Shield. In 1991, Sheffield Wednesday defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the Football League Cup final while playing in the second tier, and remains the last team to win a major English football trophy while outside the top flight. The club plays its home matches at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England.

With these two transactions, Ebadat has now advised in connection with acquisitions of two of European football's oldest football clubs: Le Havre founded in 1894 and a Sheffield Wed founded in 1867.
